The Role: We are seeking a talented individual to join our team in the role of Senior Cell Research Scientist/Engineer. This position is based in our Bedford, Nova Scotia location.
The role consists of:
Using an advanced understanding of lithium-ion cells to design and oversee experiments, as well as analyze data and compile reports for internal and external stakeholders
Regularly providing technical feedback and project updates to the Associate Director, Cell R&D
Use of Maccor, Neware, Biologic, and proprietary battery testing equipment to create protocols and perform electrochemical tests on cells
Communication throughout projects to internal and external stakeholders to provide experimental design feedback, project proposals, and project updates
Scheduling and coordinating tasks with other members of the project team. This includes team members making coin cells, pilot scale electrode coating and cell making plus testing full cells in a variety of formats.
Generating reports throughout cell building and testing processes, compiling additional data and reports on an as-needed basis
Creating an experiment schedule compliant with internal infrastructure
Reviewing literature and staying up to date on current testing technology and trends

Our Ideal Candidate:
PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or related Engineering program
Minimum 3 years experience in lithium-ion research
Extensive experience with electrochemical testing techniques
Experience interpreting analytical materials data (GCMS, SEM, EDX, XRD, etc.)
Time management and organizational skills
Data analysis skills with a strong attention to detail
Understanding of data analysis tools/software (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
Advanced understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on excel
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable presenting to small and large audiences
Knowledge of common lithium-ion battery making and testing equipment
Must have detailed knowledge of lithium-ion full cell design and performance evaluation from an electrochemical perspective.
Lithium-ion industrial R&D experience is a significant asset
