The Role: We are seeking a talented individual to join our team in the role of Cell Engineer. This position is based in our Bedford, Nova Scotia location. The role consists of:
Improving process operations and product quality by identifying root causes and developing engineering solutions
Creating jigs and fixtures to ensure process consistency and safe use of equipment
Selecting, start-up, and maintenance of new equipment
Modifying equipment to accommodate different product designs and to improve processes
As part of the team interacting with customers, assist in the evaluation of new customer projects to evaluate whether our equipment and processes can be used as is, adapted or modified to meet the customer’s needs.
Creating product specification documents as required
Writing and approval of standard operating procedures
Training of employees on correct use of equipment
Designing product modifications to adapt to customer and internal requirements

Our Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering
A minimum of 3 years experience with hands on responsibility for equipment operation in a lithium-ion cell making research or manufacturing environment
Experience training employees in equipment safe use and operation
Design of equipment modifications and processes for making lithium-ion batteries
Deep understanding of the principles of the design of lithium-ion cells and how that relates equipment design and operation
Experience with Solidworks
PFMEA, 6 sigma and formal DOE experience are all assets in this role
Exceptional attention to detail
You are a team player who is never afraid to wear different hats or lend a helping hand to your coworkers
You have an exceptional understanding of the importance of following up on safety measures and practices, and are able to motivate your peers to follow best practices
You must be able to wear a respirator in short spurts
