Product Engineer, Batteries for EV, Marine and Storage Applications

The Cell Product Engineer is a member of the Cell Engineering team within R&D and has responsibility and accountability for all cell product definition as it relates to cell design, release, fabrication, manufacturing, and associated assembly equipment. Under the guidance of the Director of Cell Engineering, the Cell Product Engineer delivers hands on product engineering leadership to an empowered, work process driven, manufacturing organization and at times guidance to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S), Quality, and Operations.

The Cell Product Engineer is expected to become a subject matter expert for our teams cell designs/products and over time possibly a Li-ion technology resource. This role is a key interface with the company Energy Operations and Engineering groups.

Primary Responsibilities:
 Develop and document cell product definition which includes cell component and assembly drawings along with associated specifications.
 Strong abilities in mechanical product design, with experience reading/creating drawings and specifications.
 Implement product and support process improvements; develop, update, and implement job procedures and operating disciplines; support training of operating personnel.
 Support pilot plant, operations and quality to insure product documents and manufacturing procedures are in alignment and meet our expectations.
 Support the respective departments in the execution of cell product builds to meet business demands including documentation of such builds.
 Assists in managing and implementing systems and new process technologies to reduce variation, produce quality products, reduce inventory, and reduce costs of operations; initiate and support capital project improvements.
 Support Quality Assurance as the voice of the customer within the plant as related to cell product design; lead plant troubleshooting efforts and coordinate cell product improvement projects with plant operations to ensure the cells meet customer needs.

Position Qualifications:
 Minimum of BSChE, BSME, or BSEE.
 3+ years working in Lithium ion cell design and development with in-depth knowledge of Lithium-ion cell chemistry is required.
