Job Summary – Applications Specialist/Engineer Applications Engineers are the primary technical resource for our Critical Power team and are responsible for actively driving and managing customer assessments, product and technology evaluation. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Estimating Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process. The Estimating Engineer must be able to establish and maintain strong relationships throughout the sales cycle with sales team and customer.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Maintain expert level of product knowledge and estimating.
Customer assessment: Support sales team by providing analytical and technical support
Engineer customer solutions: Develop technical and financial proposals that address customer objectives and opportunities based on power assessments.
Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements.
Organize subcontractors for job walks.
Create and manage bids.
Compile subcontractor bids and create overall project estimates for review with management.
Assist in developing presentations of proposed solutions.
Maintain accurate records of accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and emails in company approved systems.
· Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts.
Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects.
Identify customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth
Key Performance Measurements:
Management observation regarding attitude, diligence, team contributions, and willingness & ability to learn new skills and information. Other key metrics prescribed by Finance & Accounting leadership, resulting in positive customer and Company impact.
Score Card that reflects assessment proposal and turnaround in days, nbr of deals quoted, total amount and % of successful sales, % of Gross profit.
Track timeline of deals between assessment, quotes, closing and Installation.
Management observation regarding quality of solutions, presentations, and support of assigned team. Contributions, ability to learn new skills and product and customer Estimating.
Other key metrics Sales, Finance and Accounting leadership, resulting in positive impact to the company.

Requirements
BA/BS in Engineering, Technical Field, or equivalent successful experience in a similar controls industry role.
Experience 3–5 years of DC Power experience
Experience in Engineering and general contractor estimating; prefer telecom or cable industry.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of Microsoft Visio and/or AutoCad is desired.
Read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints and have a solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical control systems.
A solid understanding of network communications technology – Internet, Intranet, VPN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, etc.
Strong communication, Interpersonal and organizational skills.
