Critical Power Field Project Manager
 

The Critical power division of our organization is a brand independent provider infrastructure power for critical power applications including telecommunications, data centers, utilities, petrochemical, and industrial/manufacturing operations. Our engineered power systems and maintenance solutions minimize costly downtime tailored assessment, engineering, procurement, installation, maintenance, and testing of critical power systems. Our mission is to eliminate interruption in our customers operations and allow them to focus on running their businesses.


Job Summary

The Critical Power Field Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and execution of projects on behalf of the customer throughout the project life cycle and is the principal point of contact for the customer with respect to the project. The PM is charged with supporting the sales, operations, and service teams during the entire project to ensure a seamless transition from quotation through commissioning and acceptance by the customer. The PM will have the discipline to create clear and achievable cost, quality, and schedule objectives and follow these objectives through to successful completion.
The PM will also provide technical leadership to the sales & service teams. The PM must be capable of self-managing and directing a team on awarded projects for electrical equipment, including working knowledge of critical power UPS, telecommunications, and switchgear batteries and power electronics (including UPS, Charger, rectifiers) and the associated component selection, system design & installation.
Key Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Plans, establishes, maintains, and regularly updates a project schedule on assigned projects
  • Manages communication, and distributes documentation between us and its customers
  • Perform site walks for sales quoting and pre/post job qualifications
  • Review customer specifications and bid documents and provide change orders when necessary
  • Contingency planning expertise and knowledge
  • Assist with order-entry and support to customer service team
  • Prepare, distribute, and follow through with project safety plan including company, customer, and regulatory agency standards
  • Create, prioritize, and maintain project action item list
  • Maintain accurate as-built documentation and punch-lists
  • Monitors, reports, and controls costs on assigned projects within estimated project margin
  • Manage gross profit and other key performance metrics on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Reports, forecasts, and presents project financial activity to our management
  • Work with suppliers on maximizing material and service margins
  • Provide market feedback to the Critical Power management team to position us as an industry leader
  • Effectively manage business expenses to stay within company guidelines
  • Work with sales team members for joint sales calls and coaching opportunities
  • Be a student of the industry – work with OEM’s and vendors on new technology in order to provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace
  • Work evenings or weekends, if necessary, to satisfy customers
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Key Performance Measurements:
 
  • Project revenue, expense, and gross profit vs budget
  • Schedule attainment vs forecast/plan
  • Safety Ratings (TRIR, etc)
  • BOM and SOW Accuracy
Job Requirements:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution OR minimum 10 years of field service, project management and/or proposal generation experience with critical power distribution systems and high school diploma
  • Minimum 5 years project management in power system applications.  PMP preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical industry related application engineering
  • Working knowledge of IEEE, NERC/FERC, NESC, NEC, ANSI, NETA
  • Demonstrated financial success as a manager, with 5+ years of management experience.
  • Professional and motivational communication skills
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to organize his/her own work and work independently, with limited supervision
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with diverse needs, and across remote offices
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments toward the greater good of the organization
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment
  • Experience with ERP process flow
  • Ability to set reasonable and attainable service goals in a variety of markets
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Highly independent with organized, strong work ethic and team mentality
  • Must be able to pass a background check and obtain an TWIC card
  • Ability to sustain a significant travel commitment
