Applications Engineer

As an Applications Engineer specializing in Energy Storage Systems, you will be responsible for supporting the application design, development, and implementation of the energy storage solutions. Your role will involve working closely with clients, sales teams, and engineering departments to ensure the successful specification, deployment and operation of the our energy storage systems

Essential Functions

 
  1. Provide technical expertise and support to customers and internal teams regarding energy storage systems.
  2. Understand customer requirements and how to apply the energy storage solutions.
  3. Understand the application of competitive solutions and how the energy storage solution would compare from a technology standpoint.
  4. Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, presentations, and documentation.
  5. Collaborate with customers and the engineering team to design and develop energy storage systems tailored to specific applications.
  6. Ensure the integration of energy storage systems with existing power infrastructure.
  7. Support validation, certification testing, and demonstrations with customers on-site and in factory settings. Applications Engineer Supercapacitor Energy Storage Systems
  8. Coordinate with Sales and Sales Operations to produce and deliver submittal packages for approval or record, supporting the sales process.
  9. Oversee the implementation and commissioning of energy storage projects.
  10. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and operations, to meet project timelines and budgets.
  11. Monitor project progress and address any technical issues during deployment.
  12. Work with engineering to enhance existing energy storage solutions and develop new products.
  13. Provide feedback from field experiences to improve product design and performance.
  14. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in energy storage technology.
  15. Conduct training sessions for customers and internal teams on the application, operation, and maintenance of energy storage systems.
  16. Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals, installation guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
  17. Provide technical expertise and support to customers on how energy storage systems comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  18. Implement and adhere to safety protocols during the installation and operation of energy storage systems
Competencies
  1. Knowledge of mission-critical energy systems (data center, healthcare, industrial, and microgrids) and their integration with energy storage solutions.
  2. Experience with electrical system design including system level, one-line, outline drawings, CAD (basics) • Experience with data analysis and performance optimization of energy storage systems.
  3. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electrical systems and energy storage (e.g., UL, IEC, IEEE, NEC).
  4. Hands-on experience with energy storage system installation and commissioning
Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Individuals operating under this position must maintain awareness of safety in the plant environment and be available for the following.
    1. Occasional travel to our offices and to support customer events, as needed.
    2. Working under standard business hours, with occasional overtime needed due to global meetings, customers, and deadlines.
Physical Requirements

This role’s physical requirements include the ability to sit for long periods of time to perform daily tasks, bend, twist, and stoop occasionally while filing, frequently lift materials up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift materials up to 50 pounds, and rarely lift materials over 50 pounds. This role also requires entry into our production floor and the ability to follow all required safety protocols.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Travel
This position will require the employee to travel to company locations, customer meetings, customer events, outside training and/or seminars.

Recommended Education and Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in the mission-critical electrical market with a understanding of Data Center electrical system design and operation.
  3. Experience in the energy storage industry, with a understanding of battery technologies, UPS systems, and energy management systems.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non- technical stakeholders.
  6. Project management experience is a plus.
